The first blog I looked at was Dylana Suarez’s blog (it appears to have no title other than her name). Her personal style seems to be glamous but grounded—she writes about how she will fly to London, New York, and Los Angeles in the same week but still chooses to do her own chores and spending as much time as she can with her family. Her style seems to be photographing high end street fashion, and prefers refined but classic looks over following the trend—most of the photographs of herself in her clothing look like she’s studied the runway but is not interested in wearing a classic version of them.. It mostly focuses on fashion, and only briefly mentions friends and family.
Orchid Grey’s blog is completely different. While her blog has some fashion information (How To Grow Out Your Bangs, Long Hair Care, Thrift Tips) many of her articles are about social issues—my favorite being her reaction and how she helped her daughter after learning about how many teens are bullied or committing suicide because of the Internet. She’ll also post to Etsy to point out fashionable things to buy. Her writing feels more rounded—she’s older, has children, and has seen a thing or two, so to speak. Dylana’s writing is much younger, with fewer of the responsibilities of Orchid. I prefer Orchid’s writing style; however, if I changed Orchid’s presentation, there would be more fashion articles. Her main page has almost nothing related to fashion!
The tips of Dylana seem to be to constantly travel to see the freshest fashion frequently and write about it, and Orchid to spread awareness on important issues along with fashion tips. I would love to combine both—writing about whatever social issue is in the city I’m in while studying the fashion there.
